• Polymer Clips (e.g., Hem-o-lok): Made from non-absorbable medical-grade polymer. They feature an integrated locking mechanism that provides tactile feedback ("click") and are radiolucent, meaning they do not interfere with CT or MRI imaging.
• Absorbable Clips: Designed to be absorbed by the body over time (often within 21–28 days). These are preferred when a permanent foreign body is not desired and have been shown to provide effective hemostasis in laparoscopic models.

• Laparoscopic Appliers: Feature long, slender shafts (commonly 33cm to 45cm) and diameters of 5mm or 10mm to fit through standard trocars. Many models include rotational capability (360°) to allow for precise maneuverability in confined spaces.
• Open Surgery Appliers: Typically shorter (e.g., 20cm to 28cm) and designed with angled or curved jaws to provide better visibility during traditional open procedures.
• Reusable (Manual Loading): These stainless steel instruments require the scrub nurse to manually load one clip at a time from a cartridge. They are cost-effective over time but require meticulous sterilization.
